Listen to Obituary

Robertine May "Tiny" Eskew, 91, of Anderson, finally got to see the face of Jesus on August 3, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on December 23, 1932, in Anderson, Indiana, and graduated from Markleville High School in 1951.

Tiny was the beloved wife of Lloyd Eskew, with whom she married on July 1, 1951, and shared a lifetime of love, companionship, and good humor. Tiny and Lloyd celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary on July 1, spending 70 of those years together in the same home in Anderson, Indiana.

She was a devoted mother to Debbie (Jim) Abbott, Randy (Emily), and Tony, who passed away in 1989. She was a cherished grandmother to Josh (Holli) Funk, Nick Abbott, Alissa (Tyler) Prater, Jessie Eskew, and Nellie (Bryce) Crocker. Tiny embraced her role as a proud great-grandmother to Aiden and Levi Funk, Sydney (Jasiah and Jeremiah), Sylas, and Shyann Abbott, and Nori, Henry, and Hudson Prater.

Tiny was the last surviving member of her immediate family, including her parents Ora and Crystal VanMatre, and her seven siblings Sonny, Sterling, Elmer, David, Cora, Nancy, and Pearl. Her early years were filled with the joy of a large family, nurturing an abundance of love and compassion that she carried throughout her life. Despite experiencing so much loss later in life, she remained a pillar of strength and joy for her family and cherished time spent with loved ones.

As an ardent fan of the Chicago Cubs and Indiana Hoosier basketball, her competitive nature was fierce. She shared her love of the Cubbies with her daughter Debbie, and together they enjoyed 30+ years in an active euchre club with close friends.

Known for her small stature and huge heart, Tiny never missed an opportunity to send a greeting card to her friends and family. After working a full day at Ayr-Way (which later became Target), she ensured a delicious home-cooked meal was on the table by 5 p.m. every night. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles with Lloyd.

Tiny's faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was an active member of Ovid Community Church, where she came to know Jesus and served with her husband for many years.

Her spirit of love, kindness, and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Loose Funeral Homes in Anderson, Indiana with a memorial service immediately following at 1 p.m. Graveside services will then be observed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Anderson, Indiana.
