Ruby Maxine Painter

Ruby Maxine Painter, 94, of Pendleton, passed away on May 10, 2023, at the Rawlins House Pendleton. She was born on July 30, 1928, at her home in Anderson.

She worked for a short time at the Delco-Remy Division of General Motors, then stayed home to raise her family. She was also an accomplished and sought-after multi-medium artist.


Ruby is survived by her children, Stephen (Linda) Painter and Cathy Anne Painter Hilligoss; grandchildren, Stacy, Kelly, Byron, Kyle, and Tia; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Margie, Eddie, Clyde, Essie, and Rick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Obie and Goldie Poole; husband of 60 years, Charles E. Painter; son, Thomas Ray Painter; siblings, Ruth, Irene, Ted, Patsy, and Janie; and son-in-law, Rick Hilligoss.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023, 10:00 am - 11:30 am at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd St. Anderson, IN.

Services will be Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 11:30 am at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in the Anderson Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Anderson Museum of Art or the Animal Protection League.
