Steve was a 1979 graduate of Lapel High School. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and then joined the Indiana Army National Guard. Steve was deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2005-2006 for an 18-month tour.
He enjoyed fishing, flying R.C. airplanes, and woodworking. Steve was very handy and liked to figure out how things worked. He was always lighthearted and funny. Everyone who knew him called him "Friend".
Steve was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Muncie.
Steve was preceded in death by his step-father, Dave Corn, and a niece, Kachina Carter.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Cindy Lloyd-Carter; his son, Alexander Carter (Megan); his daughter, Christina Carter; his step-son, Clinton Huffman; his step-daughter, Casey Thomas (Jake); his mother, Catherine Corn; his father Marllon Carter (Emily); his grandchildren, Isabella Highsmith, Adeline Huffman, and Monroe Mae Huffman; his siblings, Lynda Malaysa (Steve), Janine Huffman (Craig), Ron Carter, and Shane Carter (Megan); his brother-in-law, Jeff Lloyd; his sisters-in-law, Tammy Craig and Mary G. Lloyd (Darrell's widow); and 55 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Friday, October 14, at 1:00 P.M. at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd Street, Anderson, with Pastor Chris Black officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 13, from 4:00-8:00 P.M., and on Friday from 12:00-1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
