Born August 31, 1945, in Anderson, Tom was the youngest of seven children born to the late Delbert and Lucille (Tucker) Hofer. On December 24, 1972, he and the former Peggy Jean Bousman were united in marriage, and she survives. He is a U.S. Navy veteran, having proudly served for six years.
Tom attended Anderson High School and retired from General Motors/Guide in Anderson, where he had been employed for 30 years. Tom was a member of the UAW as well as the American Legion Post.
Besides his loving wife of almost 50 years, Peggy, whom he called “Grammer,” he is survived by four children, Kelly (husband, Tim) Jarvis, Jack Steven Ward, Jennifer (husband, Kelly) Partington, and Jaime (husband Chris) Wilhoite; seven grandchildren, Morgan (Jacob) Johnson, Trent Jarvis, Bailey Partington, Dalton Partington, Logan Wilhoite, Grant Wilhoite, and Adam Wilhoite; one great-grandchild, Jacoby Johnson; his brother-in-law, Joe Bousman; as well as several nieces & nephews. He will be sorely missed by his rescue animals, a dog, “Max”, and a cat, “Maggie”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William Hofer, Edgar Hofer, and James Hofer, his sisters, Nancy Frawley, Marjorie Coonce, and Janet Kirkpatrick, his mother-in-law, Viola Hardwick Bousman, his father-in-law, Donald Bousman, his brother-in-law, Michael Bousman, and his daughter-in-law, Vicky Beason Ward.
Funeral services will be on Friday, August 26 at 1:00 P.M. at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd Street, Anderson, with Pastor John Jameson officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Madison County Humane Society.
