Listen to Obituary

Vera Elizabeth “Libby” Morgan, 98, of Anderson, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, following a short illness at the home of her niece knowing she was loved beyond measure.

Libby was born on January 29, 1926 in Puxeco, Missouri, to Atlas D. and Edith Brogden. She lived in Indiana before moving to Florida, then back to Indiana to be closer to family. She retired at the young age of 81 from Tropicana Credit Union in Florida. She was a member of Redeemer Baptist Church where she loved singing in the choir and being with her church family. She loved teaching about the Bible and being involved with Vacation Bible School and Sunday School.

Everyone that met Libby said she was a joy and so sweet. She loved helping her family and friends. She never met a stranger, everyone was a friend. She loved her waffles with peanut butter or just butter, a hot cup of coffee, spicy foods and if it wasn’t spicy enough she added her cayenne pepper. She dearly loved her family, but God was always number one in her life.

Libby is survived by her daughter, Carla (Rod) Somerlott of Fennville, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Teresa (Paul) Morgan of Anderson; her sister, Joanna (Don) Sweigart of Anderson; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Libby was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Clarence “Junior” Morgan, her parents, Atlas and Edith Brogden, her three sisters, Becky Moore, Martha Walker, and Mary Claypool, and her two sons, Phillip Morgan and Paul Morgan.

A very special thanks to Tom and Carolyn Shell and Don and Joanna Sweigart, as well as all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Community Hospital Northview Health & Living, 1019 Senior Living, and Community Hospital Hospice.

Visitation will be held on January 2, 2025 from 11 am to 12 pm, with the service following at Redeemer Baptist Church, 3230 Lindberg Rd, Anderson, IN 46012, with Pastor Brad Storm officiating. Entombment will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Redeemer Baptist Church, Anderson Indiana.
