Virginia Lee Peters, age 85, of Kennard, Indiana, left this world on Friday, February 6, 2026, at her home and joined her beloved husband, George, in heaven. She was born December 18, 1940, in Aurora, Indiana, to parents Ardith Leroy Moon and Florence Lee (Montgomery) Moon. In addition to her husband and parents, Virginia is preceded in death by her son, William “Bill” Peters.
Virginia married her sweetheart, George Merrill Peters, on October 18, 1963, and they were married for seven years before his untimely passing.
Virginia was all about her faith and family. She enjoyed painting and writing. She was a history buff and loved spending her spare time in the library learning about historical events. She wrote poetry and even had a short story published. In her younger years she was an avid gardener. She loved animals, cats in particular. She loved listening to Glenn Miller and gospel music. She was a big fan of Tom Selleck. She loved her Little Debbie snack cakes and enjoyed sitting on her front porch, keeping an eye on the neighborhood.
Virginia loved her family with all her heart and soul and was the very best “Grandma.” She always made sure her home was a source of warmth, love, and comfort to her family. Virginia is survived by her children, daughter Lucinda Mitchell and son Michael Peters; daughter-in-law Paula Peters; grandchildren Briana White, David M.C. Everman, Adam Everman, Elizabeth Mitchell, William Mitchell, Vivian Peters, Bailey Van Hook, Austin Van Hook, Caroline Coomer, and Danielle Peters; great-granddaughters Chloe White, Emily White, Oaklynn Smith, and Sophie McCartney; and great-grandson Liam McCartney. Virginia is also survived by a host of other family members and friends.
The family is immensely grateful for the support they have received during this difficult time. For those of you who are asking how you can help, the family is requesting, in lieu of flowers, to make a donation to help them pay for Virginia’s funeral expenses.
The staff of Liming Family Funeral Home are honored to serve the family of Virginia Peters.
