With heavy hearts, we share that Virginia Lee (Hurst) Templeton, 89, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on September 5, 2025. She was born in Anderson, Indiana on April 10, 1936, to Calvin and Gladys Hurst. Virginia was a 1954 graduate of Anderson High School. She worked at the former Harrison Finance Center and Montgomery Ward. She married the love of her life, Tom, on August 17, 1957.
Homemaking and raising four children with her beloved husband became her life until their children were older. She then began working as a Media Assistant for Indianapolis Public Schools from 1975–1995, which she truly enjoyed.
Retirement brought a renewed time to travel using their trailer. They both became very interested in the genealogy of their families, traveling to various sites to collect information. Retirement also gave her more time to read mysteries, take walks, host family gatherings, and spend time relaxing at their Raccoon Lake cabin. Virginia became very interested in the Daughters of the American Revolution and formally joined 10 years ago.
She had a remarkable memory, very quick wit, and brought warmth to every gathering. She cherished attending their grandchildren’s activities. Above all, family was at the heart of her world.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister, Nancy McMahan, sisters Betty Dickey and Lois Nadler, and son-in-law, Mark Coomer, and husband, Thomas Templeton of 67 1/2 years. She will be remembered with love by her four children, Gregory Templeton (Helen), Scot Templeton (Vickie), Tamara Coomer, and Thomas Templeton (Tamara); six grandchildren, Ryan (Victoria), Matthew (Jessica), Sasha (Eric), Cassandra (Joey), Megan (Dustin), Kyle (Ashtin); 15 great-grandchildren; special nephew Dave Nadler (MarySue); and nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Virginia will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 4901 E. Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis, Indiana.
