William Rex "Bill" Thomas, 89, of Anderson, passed away on May 27, 2025, at home surrounded by family. He was born on November 26, 1935, in Anderson, Indiana, and resided in Frankton and Anderson for most of his life.
Bill graduated from Anderson High School in 1954. While in high school he worked at East Side Dairy, and after graduation he began his career at Delco-Remy.
He was a Journeyman Tool and Dye Maker for 37 years before his retirement in 1991.
Bill was a member of UAW 662.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, square-dancing, and traveling with his family. He truly cherished the time he spent with his family and grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his loving spouse of 69 years, Emma Jean Thomas, whom he married March 10, 1956; four children, Carlin (Mike) Grecu, Keith Thomas, Karen (Mike) Landry and Kevin (Lori Martin) Thomas; five grandchildren, William Adam, Kaleigh, Evan (Sophia), Tyler and Shelby; a great-grandchild on the way; siblings, Rixena (Rick) Toombs and John Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rixie and Lucy Thomas; siblings, JC Thomas, Roberta Wright, Ella Mae Granger, Janet Jackson, Donald Thomas
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice, Rachel, and Visiting Angels, especially Nancy and Diane, for their care and support over the past few months.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, Anderson, Indiana.
Services will follow visitation at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Ken Cavenaugh officiating.
Burial will take place in the Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, The American Cancer Society, or a charity of the donor's choosing.
